Default When replacing valve stem oil seals

dont forget to block the oil return holes that go to sump incase any of the valve collets fall into them. Did this on mine now I've got to drop the sump off to get them out.

get a extendable magnet and run it down the hole you lost the collet down, get a small 1 and it'll fit a treat

fook takin the sump off too i'd leave it in there, aint gonna come to any harm sat in the bottom

I've got some spare but after completely replacing the bottom end I'd rather not risk running it. Just for piece of mind. Had a mate who dropped a washer in his Vectra's sump 2 years later it got sucked through the oil pickup and knacked his oil pump up.

it aint gonna get sucked thru the mesh on the pick up tho mate

worst case i can see is it getting flicked up between the crank and summet but the likerlyhood of it jumping up out of a tub full of oil (when its gonna sit at the bottom) is pretty unlikerly, whatever makes you happy tho mate, try the magnet 1st done it before and works a treat, for £2 off the market i'd give it a bash 1st

leave em there, they wont do any harm. Know loads of people who have done this. The pick up strainer wont allow them into the pump.

or just drain the oil out, must be cheaper to do that than buy a new sump gasket

I'm gonna get a magnet tomorrow and take it from there. Thanks for the input. Nice to know I'm not the only one.
