Default help!!!

My starter motor is fubar. sounds like its stuck. now i know you can hit them or bridge the terminals. any body explain how to do this, as one terminal is open but the other has a rubber plug on it.
need to get it started in morning so it can go to garage to have a new starter fitted

cheers

Basically on the starter u have the thick wire from the battery bolted on, and the solenoid wire which pushes on.

U have to remove the solenoid wire and bridge something like a screwdriver across the 2 terminals VERY CAREFULLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (i cannot stress that enough)

If your starter is knackered this won't make it work though

Not off the top of my head, i resent buying parts like that new. The starter i have on my RS is actually off a MK5 escort i had a few years ago, 1.4 and i paid £25 for it with 9 months ticket

They're all pretty much the same, may save a few pennies buying a second hand one....

An RS shouldn't munch up starters that quick, no offence but have you thought of trying a slightly more expensive new starter, a new starter for 25 notes to me = a piece of shit

My starter on mine came off my MK5 1.4 CVH Escort which had over 100,000 miles on it, the original Ford one and its still going strong on my RS.....
