are your brakes just crap as i think mines are the same but mines is also got a bad shudder as soon as i brake from like 60 any higher than that and i really have to hold on tight. im trying to get cossie brakes sorted out 2 see if that makes any odds.

shuddering sounds like warped disc mate...
sort out a front cossie or st170 conversion, or up the budget and go for AP or brembo 4pots.
rear cossie conversion done alot aswell now, make sure you get a bias valve aswell though

Could try getting a total fluid change: you existing fluid may have been in there since manufacture. Some garages have a machine where they link up all bleed points, then it bleeds and flushes the whole system leaving you with fresh new fluid in there. Any oil is hydroscopic and changing it will mean that there is no air in the oil and may improve the overall feel.
Next step if they're still crappo is to upgrade as mentioned. Either ST170, or Cos 2wd calipers & 4wd discs (or other way round, can't remember off top of my head) together with a Mk5 RS2000 h/brake cable assembly.
I thin kthe ST170 requires 16" rims minimum tho, again, someone will correct me if I'm wrong on that one.
