S2 running probs
Hi Guys,
I own asn '87 S2. after engine rebuild, running in, there are some problems:
-need to crank about 3-5 secs to fire up (cold start valve connected or not, it doesn't matter)
-in gears 1-4 boosts only approx 4 PSI, in fifth boosts about 8 PSI (and holds it)
-as the water gets hotter, power gets flatter. i mean if the needle in the bottom of 'normal' area, tha car is pulling better than if its in tha middle.
there is no overheating, needle sits a bit above halfway.
- at the warmup time the amal valve clicking continously on any kind of throttle (about 3Hz)
i have checked ignition timing, DIY CO adjustment, electrohydraulic actuator, ACT sensor, amal valve, plugs, rotor, dizzy cap, no air leaks, average fuel comsumption (10l/100km, town)
what else should i check?
the car is totally standard, except K&N
thanks for all suggestion
PS: there aren't any rolling road in my area

I would check your CTS. The start from cold times arent anything to worry about really, mine has to spin over a couple of times before it fires.
The amal valve shouldnt be clicking that low down in the rev range i dont think, i forget when it should cut in, ill have a check.

...but its sure the amal is clicking...
if i disconnect it, i cannaot hear any clicking
cold starting: if the weather ic colder eg. below 0 is fires up easily, in warmer weather, it takes few seconds.
the hat starting is OK in any weather condition
