That is partially true, but they could get out of it by telling you that they wont have stock until 2007 etc.....

The price of these seems to go up by £20 a year, but they are worth it

You all decide to do a group buy now that I have already bought mine recently!!

As for the question about the Mk 3 and 4 linkages. They are not the same. A mk 3 escort has the gate in the remote under the lever where as the Mk 4 has the gate in the box. I have sucessfully fitted a B+M to my Mk 3 linkage but my gearbox was built up (by CTS, gearboxman) with a gate inside it as a Mk4 box (in a Mk 3 casing).

so what your saying is, if you have a series 1, make sure you don't stick it in reverse instead of 4th!

Utter utter SHIT!
I had one of these in my S2 and I can say that they are NOT shite at all. My stick used to be a bit like stirring porridge and had a long throw between gears, but after having one of these fitted, it was 1000 times better. Very sharp and was set-up perfect in the H-section for quicker changes over standard. Can certainly tell the difference between standard and the RD one.

Now I haven't tried a B & M one. By all accounts they appear to work very well on all cars. But for the smaller budget, the RD one is definately worth considering imo.
I have to agree with ya here, i'm fitting the RD one on the fezzie - mainly because i can't warrent paying £165 odd for machined metal. The RD is cheap lol and does what it says on the tin.

On the other hand i do have the B&M on the cabbie and the times that i have moved the car in and out of the garage its never missed a beat

Looks very nice and i fitted it in under the hour, very simple.

Mr C i'm concerned about this mk3 and mk4 business now........

Did i defo get the one for a mk3? As i dont wanna find reverse at 50mph

Just put the car in 5th, and pull it straight down, see what happens. Engine off of course lol.

I am sure the box says mk3/ mk4 Escort... You use some of your exsisting linkage with the shifter. I am sure Mr C will clarify.

Paul - Fuck, been quite busy as it goes lately. You about tomorrow? I think I will be in Sidcup, or at home, again lol.

B&M list this kit for 86-90 AFAIK, I have tried to get clarification before, but they don't really know as much as we do. The same regarding the Fiesta thing, although B&M won't confirm, others have told me that they have successfully fitted these to Mk3 Fiesta's. As such I am 95% certain that this kit fits the RS1800's and FRST's.

I know its agro, but if anyone is in doubt and has a spare Series 1 Linkage assembly and want to send it to me, I will check it out myself.

I will confirm tomorrow whether or not this can viably go ahead.

No, no news since your last post, which was today (Sunday)!!!

When B&M are open again (Monday) I will call them and discuss price and let you all know.

Names on the list are plenty good enough for now.

Just get a mk.4 shift and linkage, then you can buy a mk.4 shortshift kit and then you will have shortshift in your mk.3
Yes, the mk.4 one fits right in the mk.3

It fits but the mk3 has the gate in the bottom of the remote lever housing, the mk4 dosent, so the linkage would surely be sloppy anyway plus there's a chance of selecting the wrong gear at high speed

Not sure if the Burton one might fit properly though?

Not good news Im afraid guys.

I have spoken to B&M today in the UK and they cannot offer any further discounts. I really have tried and am very disappointed.

I am currently investigating a US source and will let you know if it amounts to anything.

B+M UK only their 2 appointed consessaires....no further discounts available
no great surprise when dealing with people like that. Motorsport world HAVE got them at 174 inc P+P.

It's not so much that as the fact that the RST kit is not a commonly used one in the big B&M picture. In the new B&M price list, MOST of the kits have been reduced by a considerable amount, but some have gone up. Typically, its the one that we want here that was affected harshly.

As for buying them from the States, that's fine, but remember the risks.....

1. Slow delivery
2. High shipping costs
3. Import Tax

etc. etc.

I am trying!!! I want this to happen, but am struggling a bit at the moment!

Motorsport World it is then Gents... Ordered at 16.10 yesterday PM...On my desk at 13.32 this PM/22.5 hrs delivery @ £174 incl.
For those of you unsure it says on the blurb for MK3.4+5 Escorts, M2,3+4 Fiesta's Finally 96/2001 Puma and KA. And those of you wavering It looks to be a cracking bit of kit and increadibly well made so get the WD40 and liberally spray those wallets. So nice in fact I may just keep it next to my screen and fondle it instead of doing any work. Will add a thread once fitted at the weekend/assuming I can get that F***ing 285t2 sorted.....watch this space.........

Nearly forgot Many Thanx as well Christian. Don't know how big/small you are but maybe time to look at approaching B+M directly. As I doubt Demon Tweeks + Eibach who (I'm sure you know) are the agents in the UK ever order them in their 10's.
