Default Which heads will fit a 1988 S2 RST?

Hello all!

First of all: I'm new here! A few days ago I bought a 1988 mercury grey Escort RS turbo. I'm 21 years old and I live in Southern Germany. So please excuse that my english is not always the best.

At the moment the RST is not running at all. It has hardly any compression so I removed the head. And I think, I've already discovered the problem: The head is warped...

After looking around here a bit, I've found out that a 1.6 MFI will fit straightforward. But what about other 1.6 CVH engines? What about the EFI ones from the later Escort and the older ones from the MkIII?

All answers are much appreciated!

Regards
Peter

EFI one's won't fit because of the injector cut out's. You need a non-EFI-1.6 head, that's XR3 carb, XR2 carb (not the later lean burn), XR3i MFI, RS1600i, RSTurbo, 1.6L and so on. You just have to skim the other heads (except RS1600i) to get the right compression ratio. But check all the other things (pistons, bearings and so on)

I wouldn't use anything older than -85 as most probably they don't have the hardened valve seats for unleaded fuel.
