Default s2 dials

Hi all have recently brought anther s2, its a H plate and the dials for the petrol & temp seem to be wrong. My last s2 was a G plate and had the petrol on left & temp on right and i assume this is the way it should be on a H plate. For some reason I have the right clocks but the needle rises when i turn on ignition to just over 1/4 on the temp guage & petrol stays where it is & the fuel computer says 45 miles range. The car has white dials fitted do you think they were not put back right or is this a more serious issue IE been rewired using 88 spec.

Gonna take clocks out tomoz see whats occuring I think I have another set of clocks somewhere might swap em over se what happens

Anyone else had this

Simon

yeah sounds like you've got 88 spec clocks in your motor and they should be 90 spec, best change them over matey

A 90 spec should have petrol on left & temp on right is this correct. If so I have the right clocks, gonna change temp sender unit see if that affects it at all as temp goes straight to center when ignition turned on & petrol stays where it is at the bottom

Mine is 87 on an E and I have petrol on the right temp on the left, I know of people with 90 spec and they have it the other way around, I dont think it really matters as maybe it did some that way, u dont want to be interfering when you dont know for sure, maybe ask the guy u bought it off of or check back history?

It should'nt matter whether you have 90spec on 88spec clocks or visa versa.

I stupidly moved one of the needles on the dial of a set of 90spec clocks when fitting Electro Luminesant kit, it screwd things up in the way you describe.

I later fitted an 88spec set of clocks to the car and although the dials are opposite way around they worked no problems at all.

Personaly Id stick the other clocks in.

I have a mk.4 xr3i(for breaking) and a mk.4 rst, they have different types of clocks as the other guys said, when i had a problem with the dials i just switched the hole thing and then took out the electric parts of both the tepm guage and gaz gauge, then i switched them over and it works like a charm for me now
