Mileage
I must admit I do like to see a nice low mileage Cosworth, there is an awful lot to go wrong! Mine only has 43k on the clock so i'm quite pleased with that.
Saying that, if you find the right one with the right spec colour etc, well then you can't be too fusy, go for it!!
My mate looked for a low mileage cav turbo for ages, he gave up in the end and bought one with 110k on the clock, it is immaculate, even the drivers seat is perfect, no signs of sagging or wear on the bolster.

Spot on Dave milage bears little in relationship to the condition of a car it's how it's looked after that matters.
I know of a friend who bought a full service history 22,000 miler on a 1992.
It was mint.
He has replaced the following.
perished hoses, cracked tyres, exhaust, heater matrix, rad etc etc and he is constantly getting problems with it. Previous history showd it had had all the proper services prevously, and he paid over the top for it, and from RSOC member.

as ive said before, milage smilage, you can only go on condition really, who want s 45K mile car that although may look mint the egine gearbox brakes and suspension are all getting to the end of their servicable life.?!?!
i'd always go for a car that is good overall stuctural condition and has maybe just had a recent rebuild, this is of course if you are adtera car to drive and not one to put in a carcoon as a trophy collectors item, in which case yes, a 20K mile car totally original will be best.

As long as its maintained well a high miler is fine. Mine is knocking on the door of 89K now and all thats wrong is a slightly tappety engine. Not suprising really. Brakes, suspension and bodywork are fine(coz they are all new) and its extremely reliable

Mines done over 100k... I make no secret of it, I'm not blowing wind out my arse, but LOADS of people have looked at me in disbelief at shows etc when they ask and I tell them..
Anything and everything mechanically/electrically etc which would show that mileage has gone and been replaced and or upgraded...
It was partly all credit to the previous owner, though now I have done my fair share I think
OH BTW brand new engine has done 2k

I should add, I bought the car just over 3 years ago with circa 98k IIRC... After having looked at numerous other "mint" "Low mileage" examples... which were both dearer and cheaper.. This one just "FELT" right ...

I dont worry about mileage, like has been said, a well maintained car is whats best to look for IMO..
I just bought my Escos with 85k on it, but it has had the engine re-built.

i looked at so many 'low mileage' mint shitters it felt better to buy mine 92k but fsh and fresh engine gearbox n clutch , the previous ovner had had it since 60k and spent 11k on getting it right touch wood it hasnt mised a beat since ive had it !
my mate bought a immac 42k imperial blue for 19k and he's spent loads on it, you ve just got to look at the overall condition f the car and see whether the right things have been replaced

I am with Damo V I looked at loads of cars with low miles 40 to 50 K and they were bags of shit. saw the one i have now with 73k on the clock but it was the best by far. its now done 100k and it is better than some with half that mileage, go on condition and history mileage is just a figure which is often wrong any way

Milage is bollocks! - As long as you have a well lokked after car with previous owners that have cared for it you cannot go wrong! - the most important factor is history and the work carried out - i.e. engine re-builds, new gearbox/clutch brakes etc......
Tell me a car with 20K on it with the standard cosworth engine would be better than a clean car with 100k on it and a Mark Shead or Harvey Gibbs engine?????? - I don't think so!!!!
