I have just bought a cd player 2040,amp and wiring from a sierra xr4x4,how on earth do I connect it up to my Escort,I was assuming that it would be simple,but the ford plug coming out of my dash is different to the one that it needs to fit into on the head unit harness?,it will plug into the ford radio but then nothing else seems to fit together and it is still original so should it fit?
I have a grey flat power cable and a multi plug -maybe the speaker multi plug -coming out of my dash,nothing else.
Can anybody help please

Have you got the correct tape unit 2 go with the 2040 cd player because it all works in conjunction with each other, the grey flat cable went to the amp on mine when i took it all out hope that a little help.

 

Is your Head unit 2007/8

 

The tape player is a 2007,but I currently dont have the amp in the car it just had the radio,tape player,hence the reason for the upgrade,I bought the amp together with another 2007 a 2040 cd player and the harness to wire it all up,unfortunately the wiring is completely different in my car to the wiring on the new stuff,ie the connecting blocks are different sizes and there seems to be more wires to plug in than there are plugs to plug into!

As far as i know your suppose 2 use the 2008 m8 but you can buy an adapter lead from ford or a good stereo dealer as i looked in2 doing the same but ended up with a new sony set up 4 a present
