hi paul,
nice motor you picked up. just wondering if you know much about the history of your monte? this was for sale at the beginning of the year and i really wanted to buy it. found out alot about, previous owners etc. , but sudden unforeseen circumstances made me unable to squander up the money. well i have a big spec s2 and 2wd saph to keep my blue oval heart beating! since then i have come across another mallard monte which i quite fancy. posted a topic up here not so long ago to see if anybody knew who owned it or much about it. it was on an L reg which is strange for a monte. maybe if you wanted i could share the info with you...

Dunno never heard back from the dude?

Although one thing I did find out today that is really weird, I've been at home ill with the flu for last couple of days and today bored I put on a Jeremy Clarkson vid 'full throttle' the one where all the Escort Cossies drag race and the MAD cos K44 ACE whoops everyone.. anyway whilst watching it I see Dave Moss's cossie and Ian Howells then I saw a Mallard Green Esc Cos with a familer number plate!.. my Monte! how fucking weird! Rewinded the tape loads and even looked out the window to double check the plate! Deffinalty my Monte with some 17's, clear front indicators, morrettes, a stainless steel exhaust and all the Monte decals removed. The owner must have kept all the standard items and put them back on when he sold it on.. It came fifth in the race so may have even been running a stage 3? as it didn't perform like standard/stage 1
From my working out the vid was made around '99/'00 so this was the second owner (who had it the longest) that according to the history did very very little miles averaging around 2k per year so if the Monte wheels etc had been put away would explain why all the standard bits are so mint.

seand give me a shout when you can pls mate

sorry for not gettin back so soon!
have that video too! must check it out. the reason for that probably is that the dude that owned it then was a very good customer of M.A.Developments and still is

a guy by the name of Cyril Bolton owned that car. He indeed is from South Wales and owned another cossie while he owned yours too! he still owns his second one, reg: K400 RS. one of only a few with full Autronic management, AP's etc running about 400 Bhp, hence reg .all set up by Mark at M.A.Developments.

He then sold it to a guy somewhere down in London by the name of Ash, who also had another imperial blue escos! you guys can never get enough!!!! He had it for a while but due to money situation sold it on to be able to live! Talked to him recently and he sold his blue one too to get a bloody skyline. WRONG direction to go

Anyway while he was trying to sell the monte, a guy from Wales, Phil, who by no coincidence knew of the car, ( he is a friend of Cyril's ) went down, had a look at it, striked up a deposit and collected it the following week. when i spoke to him he said he was in need of a very little TLC. one hockey stick was missing, usual stone chips etc.

That's when i wanted to buy it. I pestered phil for a while after and the only way he would part with it at the time was if he came across a standard mint low mileage aularis blue escos. He by the way is a concourse judge and told me he was going to give it the looking after it deserved. it was tuned to stage 3. he took everything out except chip. he said exhaust was way too noisey!! he got bits resprayed, new hockey sticks. general things. he also sent wheels away to get refurbed. i also rang him when he got them back. he didnt like the way they were done so sent them back to get done properly the second time!! something to do with the decals on them.

i left it at that but rang him again a couple of months later and he still had it. told me when he does sell it, the only place it would be advertised would be with automotiveunlimited. i was flicking through their site a while back and noticed it for sale. Snapped up before i could do anything about it though.

I had all their phone numbers. Misplaced my phone and lost a few of them.

I still have Ash's number. Mark @ M.A.D worked on the car, knows the car and recommended it to me when originally for sale. He, being friends with Cyril and knowing Phil, has both their phone numbers if you ever wanted to get in contact with them to learn out more at some stage.

hope this helps, sorry for going on a bit. Could talk about cossies all day!!

I'm not 100% sure they where removed the vid was very poor quailty, I ordered the DVD version yesterday so I can get a clear vidcap and see if the logos are there or not. How do they look different?

There are pictures of my Monte alloys which have the ORIGINAL decals on them in my for sale add if you want to compare, have a look at where the valvae and OZ cast marks are on each alloy in relation to the decals, that should give you an idea
