Default 500+ engine starting problems

Hi,

I have done a rebuild by Oppliger Motorsport, 582hp @ 1.75bar of boost with E85 fuel (105ron). No problem there as its a beast.

The car performs very good once it is hot and running, but now when temperatures drop below 10-15degrees outside it doesn't want to start at all.

Plugs are IK31.

Romain Oppliger came from Italy to Belgium to fix coldstart problems and it was OK untill now its 5degrees and i tried to start it after 1 week and it doesn't want to go again.

Keeps cranking and you hear it WANTS ignition but after 10x i stopped..
The problem could be the plugs as they are "cold", but i want a 500+ engine that i can drive ANY DAY of the year and not only when its 20degrees outside.
I also tried cranking with the injector plugs removed because it maybe overfueled or somekind.. But no succes.

Anybody got another idea?

I suspect it is still needing some cold mapping, it prob needs to be mapped when it is as cold as you are experiencing. You may need to experiment with the plugs and only change them when the seasons change?

My car needs more cold start work too.

In the winter E85 isn't 85% ethanol, but 70% ethanol because of these starting problems.
You may need to refill the tank and then remap everything for E70.

Try 071 plugs...iridium are already gone i presume from all that attempts to start the car..

Hello,

I'm now on the 98ron map, i have 2 fuel maps, and i drove the tank all empty on Ethanol and filled with 98ron (here in Belgium). So right now the car doesn't start on normal 98 fuel with these Denso IK31... my ignition setup is:

EMU aftermarket ECU with coil on plug (i think from yamaha bike). So normal 071 don't work i guess?

What about if i go IK27?

Cheers for the help so far!!
