Default Escort Cosworth GP.A - Franco Cunico M548SHH

Hallo,

I have got some questions about a special rally car and I would be happy, if anyone could help me.
Does anyone know something about the group A rally car which was driven by Franco Cunico (sponsored by martini) in 1995/96 (registration: M548SHH)?

I'm looking for all information about that car.
For example:
- the history of the car.
- was this car build by M-Sport?
- what was the role of JollyClub?
- who was the owner/user of the car after franco cunico?
- does anyone know what happened with the car?
- does anyone know some technical details (6- or 7-speed-gearbox / enginesetup / suspension / .....)?
- colour codes of the martini colouring?
- has anyone some pictures of the interior and the engine bay?
- ............?

Thank you for your help.

sorry for my english, I know it is not so well

the car was built by malcolm wilson motorsport (MWM) before he set up M-Sport.
Malcolm built it and Jolley Club ran it in the Italian Rally Championship.
one of the group a cars was recently in a Italian garage for sale for around 100k euros.

maybe you have not seen this ???????????????????????????????????????

http://www.francocunico.it/ home page has a pic of the car you mention

and this is possibly the best escort cosworth video ever

http://www.francocunico.it/rally_dri...o/era-martini/

a chap who used to come on here but now uses mainly www.escortrscosworth.com knows someone in Germany who has a Martini Escort Wrc that Franco drove and Franco has acknowledged the fact.

yep Ginge matey

Fraser who Works for M-Sport has worked on Franco's cars too so he would be a good person to ask also. He wires up cars for Malcolm

the escort reg m548shh is a carslisle area reg too which is the nearest vehicle registration office to Malcolm Wilson Motorsports Cockermouth base. the HH in the reg signifys its from Carslisle.

from Carslisle to Italy

Thank you cozzfather,

I know the car in italy, but it must be an older one, because it has the Martini colouring of the car with the registration L344MRM from 1994 and it has got a diffrent rollcage especially in the back of the car.

You are right, the video ist really the best escort cosworth video ever.

Another generall question:
Is the registration number of a car connected to the car as long as the car exists or could it be used for another car?
I ask this, because someone told me, that he has got the car with the Reg M548SHH. So, when the registration is connected with the car the whole life long, it must be the original one.

in the uk we can buy and sell car registrations and take a reg off one car and put it on another, theres a huge amount of do's and don'ts that go along with it though,i would think that the reg m548shh is nothing special, its the car that special.
people would love to buy say r1fmc or p10fmc due to what car they were originally on and because they look good on a nice ford car.
them kind of refistrations tend to stay on the original cars though due to the fact they make the car worth more.
i could not see anyone taking the reg m548shh off and putting it on another car unless the original car was badly damaged. lots of rally escort cosworths got badly damaged and broken for spares and its anyones guess what happend to them.

chances are someone in italy has a genuine mwm car which is now registered in therir own country which may show as having come from the uk and been on another reg.
i have seen that happen many times, some foreign people do not keep records and then the history is lost unless you know the car's vin number and can check it out.

No idea, but I have an old Martini Racing calendar that has loads of pictures of a Martini Escort Cosworth in it - it's on an L-plate though.

i have the original jolly club car, but when it came back to England the ID was removed and it was given K777DTM, I would like to find who has the number and see if they would part with it so I can have the car original again.

Nice, would love to see some pictures of that.

Do you want the calendar to go with it?

That's lovely! What gearbox is in it? Is it an FFD one? Is it all still Group A throughout? Lovely cars and very rare now, as many were broken up.
