when i first changed mine i dropped the crossmember very slightly, just let it drop a little but still left the long bolts in that hold it to the chassis.

i also had the engine lifted slightly which gave enough space to access it all properly.

in fairness i then cut the old mounts out as they were fooked anyway, and the new vibra technics mounts that then went in wernt as tall as the standard ones, so they slipped into place relatively easily!

if that helps

as said just cut them out and take the new ones to pieces to to install them. i found that threads on the new vibratech ones were shorter and the top nuts just and no more covered the threads.

Does your Escort have aircon???

Mine does, and when I look to the space....it's horrible to get access to the engine mount (header tank side)

Any options?
