Default Knocking/clicking noise

I have a problem with my Escort, when i drive slow i can hear a quite loud clonking noise, its coming from the drivers side front wheel. It seems like its getting louder. Its seems to happen at the same rotation if you no what i mean

Any ideas before i take to a Garage?

front inner cv joint.

check the tri-bearing on the end of the drive shaft under the rubber boot.

if this has gone check your engine mounts too, they seen to go then the bearing goes on the shaft.

Mine's exactley the same but the passenger side, Doesn't sound good either. I manged to get a complete Drive shaft for £150 off ebay, I've limited driving mine too much until its done as I don't want to do more damage.Let me know if it fixes your problem if you get it done soon.

Just went out with a man from the garage, it only happens when going slow, the minute you tap the break it stops

Sounds similar, can you feel it through the car when slowing down ? Mine is fine under load except when turning then you get a louder knock.

Don't you hate it when the garage can't get it to fail but when you drive it does. Lol.

Mine varies with speed so must be the CV / drive shaft. Bloody thing.

Seen CV joints on ebay for £50 that say their not refurbs .

IVE AN ESCORT COSSIE-a few years ago( id only had it for a week or so) and it developed a knock /tapping on the drivers side on cornering, i looked at everything possible ------------THEN I NOTICE THE MASSIVE EXHAUST ON THE CAR (LOOKING AT THE TURBO AREA!!!)-I ALSO THOUGHT THAT LOOKS CLOSE THE THE CHASSIS AND THE STEERING KNUCKLE!!!2M ONE SIDE AND 8 MM THE OTHER (YES THE EXHAUST IS BIG!!!) ON CORNERING THE EXHAUST WAS JUST TOUCHING THE CHASSIS ENOUGHT TO GIVE IT A KNOCK-----------REASON!!!!!!TURBO WAS A TAD SLACK ON ITS BOLTS!!!!! AND HAD DROPPPED!!------NOTHING TO TO WITH ENGINE MOUNTS OR DRIVE SHAFTS ETC ETC-----HAVE A LOOK AT YOURS FIRST------------------

Is the car running Ap's i had a similar knocking noise that went away when you tapped the brakes , turned out to be the pad retainer clip has jumped out the little retainer holes alowing the pad to move around.

I'm collecting the car at 8.30am, its been a nightmare, i took it to my local garage for teh CV joints to be changed, they checked and agreed it was the cv joints, to cut a long story short they couldnt get something off and apparently bent the hub assembly. So i rang around RS scrappys to try and get a new hub assembly, £300 later for both sides When the parts arrived i went back to book it in, 3 week wait f that, so i booked it in at torque of the devil, and the hadnt bent the hub assembly it was something else so i spent £300 for nothing, i'll find out more a bit later. Oh yeah the noise was the brake pads

Nightmare mate, its times like that when I wish I was able to do more on my car than trust someone else. Its always the straight forward jobs that seem to throw u a curve ball & stuff doesn't go to plan. Hope u get it sorted.
