Default Driveshaft woes

Dropped the o/s hub with brakes and shock still attached and the drive shaft didn't come out of the diff properly and was at a funny angle when I pulled it out and the shaft feels like it have come away from the end under the inner cv boot Was too fucked off to look last night but need to get it sorted.

Have I broke the drive shaft?

Gonna have a look under the boot when I get home but need to know when taking off the boot are those metal clips re-useable? If I haven't broke it how do I put it back together?

Guys! I really need you to get me out of the shit here

yeah you have pulled the shaft out the joint mate

make sure the gaitor isnt split and put it back in

the driveshaft is held in witha clip inside the diff

so remove the diff cover and you you should see the clip thats holding it just pull the clip out and then the driveshaft will come out complete

Cheers guy.. huge relief!

The circlip is out already and the boot is intact its just come apart in side, do I need to take the boot off to push the drive shaft back in the joint? shouldn't there be something holding it in place?

I take it this is why the Work shop manual says not to bent the shaft beyond 45degrees

shouldnt bend them beyond45 degrees as it damages the outercasing of the outer joints, can end up oval shAPE

Paul,

the driveshaft will pop back in no problem, but i would advise you to take the boot clip off and inspect the bearing and make sure they are all still good.

if you look closely where the bearings go into the cup, you will see the metal lips bent overnext to where they go in,you can bend these outwards so to keep the shaft from popping out again.

I took larger end of the shaft end off and pushed it back in against the spring and it sat a lot better then before but I couldn't see any metal flaps that where holding it in thou
