Default Escort Cosworth Broken Driveshaft & Short Propshaft

Hi All,

Yesterday I clipped a kerb in the Escort and it has broken the osr driveshaft.

Someone has recommended changing the driveshafts for XR4x4 items as theyre slightly longer - however they were not sure whether the rears fitted - apparently the fronts fit OK but my question is do the XR4x4 rear shafts fit the Escort OK?

Also, there is a tremendous amount of play in the short propshaft (trans box to gearbox), which also needs replacing, but I can not see how hitting a kerb did that.....again, is that the same item as an XR4x4?

Thanks
Paul

how did you break a driveshaft by "clipping the kerb" if you clipped it enough to break a shaft or prop maybe you should check suspension components ect ect

There is no other damage, barely any damage to the wheel even.

Appreciate a response to the original question guys.

Thanks Paul

not sure about the rear shaft but i'd change the front prop asap before it breaks & costs you a lot more

front prop goes because of beiing so close to the exhaust etc,,,you could get yours reconned by a local parts company, had mine done about 2 years ago think it was about 40 bucks come back with greese nipples and balenced etc..etc...

the rears will fit no problems

the fronts you can do yourself with a stake kit or something, i've done them myself but have never bought the parts to do it, i'm sure someone will have them, they are only about £20 an end

as said, if that goes it'll at least kill the gearbox bellhousing, and possibly your ankles in you are unlucky
