Hello All,

Currently running the GGR 305 BHP, But after a change,

Really interested in converting my Small turbo Escort cosworth into a Big turbo Cosworth. I know wots involved, But wot im after really is-

1.Cost of do this?
2.Power gain? without engine mods
3.How big can the turbo be?

Also a company that will do a good tidy job. But i really need

You're looking at £3k to just convert it over to a suitable engine management (Pectel T2) and 350bhp, to get it to 400bhp would take a LOT more money, as you would also need to budget for the transmission as well, which would be around £5.5k on TOP of the final engine price.

To do it properly, you wouldn't see much change out of £12-13k for a YBP engine (but that includes EVERYTHING - engine / transmission). You could do it for around £7.5k and forget about the transmission, but you would never be able to use the full 400bhp .

Also the above price is for a T38 equipped engine producing 420-450bhp (depending on how much power you wanted).

Cheers Mike

I only use the car in the summer, But im after something a little
Special!

if you want a reliable 400 brake car for sensible money, get en evo 5/6/7 RS, a std one can be tuned to 400 for about 2-3K the same as a cossie, but then you alredy have decent brakes, suspension and a bullet proof transmission to start with...

Trouble is the Escort Cosworth is a IKON I love it, u never see one on the roads till the summer.

The Evo havn't got the same Aggresive look as the Cossie, I know the Evo is more powerful, But thats Technology for you!

But i still think the Escort Cosworth is still King of the Road.

The Evo GSRs still shit their rear diffs out with 400bhp and launching, just like a Cossie - the only cure is the £3k RS diffs (which remove the AYC) .

Duncan's car has the best part of £40k invested in it - so no wonder it is something to aspire to .

Spend around £3k and be happy with 350bhp. Above that it spirals out of control.

Not really bullet proof, I know a chap who was told this and fitted one to his Gp A Cosworth engined KA. the box didn't last long and when he researched some more he found out that they cannot take big torque.

i've converted mine from small to large turbo with a full engine rebuild etc etc and the total cost involved including everything, air2air, GT turbo etc etc was just short of £10k from Harvey Gibbs (SCS) I now need to get my transmission up to scratch with ATB front and rear diffs and a decent box to cope with launching the fooker!! lol As Mike said, another £5k needed

Couldnt sell mine! Ive kept mine im such good condition that i could never part with it. Ive had it since 2000, and i took a loan out to get her. Shes lovely.

I think for the time being the 350bhp will have to do!

Im in the process of getting a mortgage as well so 10k is a little out of my price range. I nearly had to get rid of the cossie But managed to get around it. THANK GOD

Thanks for everyones advice and help, much appreciated
