Yep, lost a stage and couple of places in a rally like that. Also we had to make up 20 minutes lost to fixing it on road stage... can you imagine making up for 20 minutes lost on 50km road stage? Was scary...
I had 3 or 4 ratchet failures so I know that for experience. New clutch cable helped though.

still available, less than a tenner, that isnt the problem though, fitting is
Take your old one out first and match it up, it took ford 3 or 4 attempts to match mine...
A £cuked ratchet could simply mean ALOT of clicking when using the clutch, though ultimately as above NO clutch

In my case it was enough to tell them colour. White one.

Mine is the same, in attempts to cure it, I have fitted 3 x different sized clutch ratchets, New cable fitted each time too...
I have replaced ALL of the associated clutch pedal items too, the bar the springs the bushes EVERYTHING..... the only thing I havent changed is the actual pedal assembly/cage... I am guessing now these are getting older, they are flexing, it is a common problem....
Easiest way to overcome would be to go hydraulic

You could always swap it for a manual adjustment gp N job. All that's needed is a new cable (I had Speedy Cables in Islington make one for me, IIRC about £60), a small alloy adapter for the gearbox (basically a bush that cost about a tenner to have made) and the clutch pedal needs modifying and a bracket welding onto it. No more crappy ratchet that gives up the ghost far too easily when you put a heavier sprung cover plate on
