when u turn the key to position 2, does the fuel pump run for a few seconds then stop...? (this should happen)

have you tried removing a plug and leaving it pluged into the ht lead and let it sit on the rocker cover and turn it over, do you get a spark when its turning over.?

It's really hard to try to help since you don't tell what works and what doesn't. If your mechanic went through the whole fault finding procedure and everything was ok, then there shouldn't be any problem? Am I right?

I have to agree with this, it would appear you arent trying anything which has been suggested and you want a magic answer... either that or you dont entirely know what you are doing ... with the greatest respect a "ford technician" wont always know al there is to know about these

Get it to someone who specialises in them, you are going around in circles..

Had a non starting problem on mine turned out to be Lambda sensor. the wiring was faulty. dissconected it and it started worth a try as it is a 2 second job.
I think you way forward if you want advice on here is to state everything you have tried and with what results you have found. ie

can you here fuel pump prime when you switch ignition on

have you got fuel at rail / have you got spark etc etc

The boys on this site know there stuff and will help you out but you need to state correct information to get anywhere. Goodluck getting it sorted it will be a great car when sorted

it is 290bhp, on greens a large turbo conversion and a A1 rally sport chip. All done by the above,

first thing you do .. disconnect lambda sensor...
these cheesy buggers often break down and leave random problems..

easily to disconnect and try and start...

then next thing you do ... buy new sensor
