yes, last time it happened i had pulled up at lights, guy next to me starts revving up so i thought can't be arsed so let him go, 200 mtrs up the road next set of lights, same again, but instead of letting him go i let him get about a car length ahead than floor it, but the best bit was he was in, wait for it...................

Here in Poland everybody thinks it's some shitty tuning. Nobody knows really that real thing exists apart from some rally nuts like me.

Same here in the US. I get the occasional camaro or mustang but thats about it. Once in a while I find someone who really knows what it is and goes crazy. its pretty funny to see their reaction. One guy almost hit a tree while driving behind me trying to get a picture of it.

There are the typical straights but here in New England its mostly twisties. I live out in nowhere so there is very little traffic too.
A little while ago I got new tires (eagle F1's) for it. I was playing on the twisties but not too hard since they were new. I finally got to a stop light and waited.....and waited....and waited.... about 2 minutes later a cop comes up behind me with his lights on and pulls me over. He says "What are you doing? I have been trying to catch you for the last 20 miles!" I didnt have the heart to even tell him I wasnt even trying hard. I never saw him!

Do it, you won't regret it! The best bit is showing them that it isn't a replica!!

Completely agree!! The hardest part is trying not to smile when you see a group of people looking at you in your ESCORT RS COSWORTH and you just know they're thinking, "Lucky B**tard!!"

Get it all the time, especially when i first got the car at only 23.

First day it was in drive a supposed mechanic in his pimped vauxhall shed up my street stopped to ask if it was real, i said you should be able to tell, to which he answered i can..

obviously not

feels great though the attention you get. was at a set of lights in town centre beside a brand new impreza wrx when group of young school kids crossed in front of the impreza then in front of my car gave it the thumbs up and shouted nice car mate...they weren't even born when it was in the showrooms.

needless to say the scooby driver was far from impressed

Goes to show 13yrs old and still gains respect

Yeah I think as said above, they just wanna see what it can do IMO...

Alot of the younger generation know what they are but not what they are capable of and just want to see it blast away...

I am the same driving along in my van its great when a nice bike/car rips past on full chat..

It is surprising though, I ten dto find its the 7-10 year old kids and younger who will say "nice car mate" OR "Mum, mum, look at that car"

funny, yesterday I was in traffic and there was a group of right young kids (10-11)walking past on way hime from school, all I heard was
"whooaa, imagine that coming up behind you when you are driving along... that would scare the $hit outta ya" ... I did raise a little smile

I have my Escort Cosworth track car now and I love it. I always remember years ago wanting one but could not afford it.

Anyway, about 8 years ago I had a 93 Vauxhall Cav sri 16V.
I had the engine tuned by SBD.
215ps at 7750rpm
Max torque was at 5500rpm.
I think the car weighed about 1200kg.

Only two challengies all the time I had it as it was only a cavalier.
1st time vs sierra saph.
2nd time vs Mitsubishi 3000GT

I followed the Saph up to 150mph, he pulled away initially but top end I was still gaining on him at the end of the straight.

Just after fitting a quaife front ATB I pulled out of a petrol station and the Mitsubishi shot past and then continued to pass a lorry so I floored it into 2nd and was right behind him again up to about 150, just changing into 5th. I was only 10 yds behind him and he was probably thinking, its only an old vauxhall.

The good thing was the roar from the throttle bodies and the straight through powerflow exhaust.

The car is sold now, no regrets as I still like the look of my Cossie better.

OK, its a ford site, but heres a photo of the old engine.

I must admit I did like the n.a engine's smooth power increase out of the corners.

328Lbsft suddenly appearing in the corner makes the escort a bit scary at times.

i must admit my escos doesnt really attract the usual nobhead in a corsa or saxo its usually mercs or bmws on motorways who think theyre faster until they cant out run ya in the outside lane and u go past em in the middle lane bout 140 then they dont give up nobheads

not to much of it happening to me here in australia, in WA the state i live in there are only about 5 escort cosworths, and a handfull of sierra,s so unless they are from the UK they have no idea what it is to them if it hasn,t got a thumping V8 in it its shit so needless to say quite a few of them have been very suprised at the lights . even my missis lves to let it go some times if im in the car i tell her not to worry let them go cos she has only a couple of points left . she is a leadfoot in whatever car she drives. if i happen to se a youn guy in a mk2 escort ,there arnet many of them iether , chances are he will know what it is and give me the thumbs up as he goes past , mostly the youn guys drive around in V8 ford or holden whitch is vauxhall UTE,S which are pick ups , i have to say though some of these beuties can stand up and boogie mostly in a straight line , when it comes to handling the bends they are knowhere to be soon , i love that bit drop them at the lights then they catch up then leave them on the bends again, they just cant keep up.
some of the locals do have 4 bangers scoobies and nissan skylines they go a bit but to many of them around , i wasw stopped by cops the other day for speeding and he comented on my car not many of these about take it easy, oh and heres a $250 fine and 4 points have a nice day . only allowed 12 points so i have to take it easy now .

chow for now as they say in llandow.

TAFFY TONY .

here in norway ..people in other cars always got to show theyr car of when they watch a cosworth on the road.(i guess beating a cossi is always a good thing for them.)when im out driving theyre always want to drive past me and fight.
sometimes i floor it and show them..other times i just smile and shake my head and let them past ,leave them to think that they have the fast car.
i think its all funny.
theyr just jealous.hahahahaha
