gearbox has special MT75 oil, like castrol FMT 1.3 litres - transfer box has 0.5 litre of Dexron 2 ATF .

BUT - IIRC stu has found some better oil that can be used for both that doesnt saound like your box is fooked when its hot and although is a lil bit stuiff when cold - does give much better protection when on teh move...

That's the Silkolene Syn 5 75w-90 which is excellent if the car is heavily modded because it's more thermally stable and can take the additional stresses without breaking down.

The best I used so far is Motul Gear 300 competition transmission oil. Only problem with it is that box works really badly when cold, but you don't get much cold in UK hopefully.

Just getting to the final rebuild stage of the escort, its been a long 12 months so far

Just about to fill it all with oils, I know this is an old question but can someone give a complete list of oils to use, front and rear diff, t/box and gearbox?

I've been told the front diff and t/box is dexron 2?

The MT75 uses a specific oil, has anyone got the Ford Finis code for this? I have asked the storeman at the parts dept but he has given me Ford oil which has SAE 80W on it? Is this the correct stuff?

How about the rear axle?

Cheers in advance
