Some questions about 205 block
Hello guys.
I took this engine (2.0I pinto, 205 block) from 1987 Ford Scorpio, and i did a makeover from EFI to carburetor.
I took the igniton system from my old 165 block, next week i'm going to buy 2.0 intake manifold and some 32-36 DGAV carb.
I didnt run the engine because some electricity problem (when it was in the Scorpio), my question is, will it run with 1600cc ignition system? If i had electric choke on my old engine (the carb was 28-30 DGAV) and if i have no manual choke, does it make some problem?
Thanks and sorry about my English, cheers from Israel.
JEP.

ma sh'lomxa, be'vakasha some more details about the engine/car it is going in be'vakasha
The 1600 ignition system will be fine, so long as the distributor has the same type of sensor.
It doesn't matter what your old choke type was, the 32/36 DGAV has a semi automatic choke, this is where the letter A in it's number comes from.
The choke consists of a bi metallic spring that is heated by the coolant passing through it, so this takes care of the choke problem.
Auto electric chokes normally operate from a single tapping from the alternator on a 8V output, marked W.
Don't worry about english, it's better than my Hebrew!!

ya should of used the whole of the efi.
if you've got the ids igntion system then you'll have a vacum advance on the dizzy housing and and igition amplifier with a few wires. this is the basic igniton of the 3 systems. AND will be fine to use with your carb 32/36 as the choke will be water controlled.
If you've got the esc module then you'll be fine with that system too,
Just plug the vacum for the module into the new manifold.
i know the escII has some sensors to control the inlet heater and carb stepper motor for choke. so u might be ok with using escII if u have that system too. As the choke will be water controlled. but I never tried it so dont know for sure.

Thanks for the answers.
I took the distributor of the 165 block. I'm afraid to start the engine now because i have the manfiold and the carburetor from the 1600cc engine.
So i will wait a bit for this moment, JEP.

you can always skim the head on these and put cosworth internals into the block mate or get a burton or kent cam for it maybe change the valves there is loads of stuff you can do the best engine to tune cheaply in my eyes and they dont really go wrong cheers johnandhissaffy
