Default Escort Mk2 Dilema

After replacing the floor and inner and outer sills i got my Mk2 bead blasted.

Bearing in mind everyone who has seen the car said its a good solid one imagine my suprise when my mate rings up to say its rotten!

The blasting has revealed all manner of bodged repairs to both rear quarters and the need for a new boot floor!

I'm now unsure what to do as i have most of the bits (2l zetec, Cossie race box and rear axle, set alloy tarmac arches) to get her nearly sorted.

Are rear quarters still available from somewhere?

I'm gutted as the work thats been done is to such a high standard (not by me) and i really want a RWD ford.
I've even thought of putting all the bits in a rwd Fester!

I had the same problem myself mate, I owned the old Revs Escort and as much as it looked mint it was ready for the bin after being blasted, I have no idea why the built a car they were giving away in a magazine with such a fu**ed shell, it even had cunt written in weld under the fuel tank

I replaced that with a freshly built Grp 4 shell that needed a few bits finishing and that went to SPL to be dipped, it then turned out the reason it has had 2 new inner wings was possibly a accident as the A pillar had been mullered and repaired, not a massive issue as I was so far into spending that I just had the whole thing done and finished but never believe a car is mint, filler and paint cover up a LOT of stuff

Thats why this one has taken over 2 years so far, i'm taking the time to replace everything thats even slightly dodgy! guess i should have had it blasted or dipped when i first got it.

I luckily had the enjoyment out of the Revs one, I was going to YB it but blasting it was free and I wanted to see where we were with things, sadly it was far too gone to be throwing 10k+ at so I just started fresh but even that needed more work, some due to my changes and the rest just being that its nearly a 30 year old car.

Its better to do it right once than spend a fortune knowing that its all got to come apart again, I've been doing this Escort nearly 3 years now, it took 2 just to get the shell and running gear how I wanted and paid for and in the last year I've started getting my engine together, I've always wanted one and as I don't earn a fortune I've had to accept its done when its done but it has to be right.

True, i've got the 2l zetec and cossie race box already, even thought about putting a cossie rear end in it (still might if i can't find a reasonable atlas), she will just be for trackdays and road use but don't/ didnt intend to do another, ever.

Link didn't work.

Several shells for sale all over the place at the moment, some cheap ones and some normally priced ones, totally depends on what you want I guess.

I wouldn't use a cossy back end over a atlas, are you staying NA ? if so you won't even need a mega Atlas on there really.

Yeh, just putting the zetec with throttle bodies in her, will keep the old english axle in her if i don't find an atlas.
