Mk2 Escort Issues
Hello!
I am new here... I have had a Mk2 4 door for a few years now, and my dad has been into them for years, having rallied them in the past. He has recently purchased a 2 door to put a zetec in and this has got me yearning for a 2 door!
So... I have decided I am going to be re-shelling my 4 door with a 2 door shell and was wondering if anyone else has done this before? I am hoping to keep as many parts from the 4 door as possible, but I am aware there are some things I'll need to change, such as carpet, rear seats and door cards. In terms of mechanical parts, are they all identical for 2 door and 4 door models?
Many thanks!
Paul

to be honest m8 i dont think its a good idea reshelling it into a 2 door shell you will have big problems selling it(not to mention the old bill) when people see its 4 door on the log book, you would be better selling the 4 door and getting a 2 door
ah there seems to be some confusion....
i've been offered a 2 door shell with a log book, and i'm going to be putting all the parts from the 4 door onto the 2 door... so it would be effectively like restoring the 2 door, but with all the gear from the 4 door... I had considered buying an up and together 2 door, but they're so expensive! and i'm in the unfortunate position of having more skills than money!
i'm also in the position now where the mot is coming up and i know it's going to need a lot of welding to get it through, so why not buy a bare 2dr shell that will probably need about the same amount of work to get it uptogether as the 4dr.
thanks for the advice though, and any more advice with this transformation would be hugely appreciated!
