Hi mate

I was told people dont make a lot of them as the floor is the thing that

Holds them together

So if u start choppin in to it to make the gear box tunnel it will make it not strong and it will be a flat pack lol

I spose you've been reading this months Pf? Theres a mk4 Escort cabbie in there running a rear wheel drive cossie set up.

I briefly scanned over the article and it looks to be a saph floor pan, bulkhead etc.... with the cabbie bits put on to it.

Intresting tho, i must read it fully

Sorry, thought he meant a convertible that looked like an Escos with cossie running gear not a tin pot one

Tin Pot........Gartrac would have charged approx Ł 8 K just for the bodyshell modifications - Ł 7 K of that being labour

Mill Lane Garage Services built one quite a few years ago. The guy got a Escort Cossie shell and a Cab shell and then chopped them both up to make an Escort Cossie Cab. Loads of work involved. Did ask the guy but he didn't seem to chatty about the achievement

OMG the IRONY of this thread title!!!!

Karman in Germany did the original VW GTI's Cabrio's..........And when Ford wanted their own Escort Cabrio they also went to Karman who did the design for the hood and then built all the Cars for Ford too (they were the experts in Cabby conversions)............

But, even though Karman built over 7,500 Escort Cosworth's for Ford they did not build any Es Cos Cabrio's

This was parked up next to my Cabby at Ford Fair last year

Loads of work has gone into it - very nice motor!

Showed my runaround up properly!

Doug Stirling and Steve (oranaco) The Reynolds brothers and Mill Lane services are the same people. Steve and Gary are friends of mine (well I hope so!) do all the work I can't do for me. Top fellas, they have done a few of them now, latest one is just being finished, fairly serious power too. Its red and looks factory imho. Awesome cars, I think he still has 2 as well as the current one. Top blokes and very, very good at what they do.

Ah, didn't know that tbh, there seems to be a fair few people involved in the builds, all of high talent! I did ask if he would sell me one a while back, but I didn't like the price (was fair enough i am just too poor lol)

I remember dropping off my old saff shell to a yard in Herfordshire somewhere for Paul & Shelley (from Fordsport). There was a mint auralis blue cabriolet with 4x4 cossie running gear on the site. The chap who owns it is called Glynn....

Paul - There is nothing worse than people with an attitude problem- life is too short for that shit, bad day or not! - I must say I have been luck (or well advised) all the guys I have delt with since I have had my cossie have been top guys - Mike Rainbird, Mark Shead, Phil Saunders etc...
