Hi guys,

My mate has an Impreza Turbo (Not too sure on spec but think it is running around 280BHP, dont quote me on that though)

He has just has his gearbox sorted after his 3rd gear went so he had a new cog put in and a new clutch while they were at it!

When he got it back he noticed that a vacuum hose had split, this was in the top left corner of the engine bay and was going onto a brass type object with a screwing top (Boost adjuster?). He cut the hose down to get rid of the split part and then put it back on the object and it ran ok again then!

Ever since then in 3rd gear when he floors it there is a really loud squealing sound but we can't seem to figure out what it could be.

Does anybody have any ideas?

When you say squealing do you mean like an air leak?
Could it be another split hose somewhere???

 

On the ERST I have when there was an air leak it was like a really loud pssssssssss whereas this is a really loud whining noise! Will double check all the hoses but they looked ok, well the ones I could see

 

hoses probably

check them all.... and replace not shorten failing/failed ones!
