now it may suprise you but there is a few big ford enthusiats on there, and there thoughts were the same as mine, which is there is no chance that 19psi could run on a standard intercooler for any lenght of time

also the fact the fords speedos are allways well out, and the fact 150bhp wouldnt be enough to get anywhere near 140mph

150 is abotu 7k on RST with standard wheels int it?

But the lad doesn't say it does 150mph, he said it does 140mph, which on an ERST you can get an indicated 140mph on the clock....

Anyway, if it has been chipped and runs 11psi, and has other stuff like exhaust, filter and the like - usual mods - it is entirely feasible that it DOES have 150bhp or over...

No whether you can run 19psi on a standard turbo and intercooler, thats a different story....

 

You can run 19psi on a standard cooler and turbo....you can run 30psi if you want. Just don't expect it to last long!!

 

yep, i tottally agree an indiated 140 is possible, but he thinks thats actully 140mhp, and agree that the mods can take it to 150bhp

what i doubt is that power can actully take it to an gps verified 140+mph

But why are you bringing in "GPS verified 140mph" - no one here is saying anything, including the owner, about "GPS verified" are they? So what if he belives it? Have you NEVER belived speeds you have seen on your speedo?

99% of us can ONLY quote speedo indicated speeds as 99% of use don't have access to GPS/Daytron/etc timing gear......

 

gps verified?bloody hell,i just got sat nav and found that speedo readings above about 60mph are very wrong indeed!

 

Personally i think he's a little dim boasting about doing 140mph on a public forum with his plate on show...

just was annoyed that people wont take into account speedo inacurracys when claiming there top speed

 

The lad says his car gets to 140(to me that means he is saying the needle go's round to 140) not my car can actualy do 140mph.

On the boost question I recall a load of RS Turbos running 1.5bar peak 10years back.

Larger capacity IC's were'nt as common knowledge back then especialy if you werent going to the right tuner, so it is possible to run that kind of boost on a standard IC.

 

so basically jr your saying that if he had worded it different ie my car has done an indicated 140mph and not saying my car can do 140 you`d be happy
some of you are unreal , i say fair play to the boy for seeing 140 on his speedo who gives a fuck what it really was 130???

 

Ahh, but thats only hearsay Nothing can happen to a guy who says "I was doing 195mph past an infant school yesterday - here's pics of my car with the pate number" in the same way that loads of rockstars can't get done for saying in interviews and on TV about how many drugs they have taken etc....

Exaclty - I saw 140 on the speedo of my S1(s) loads of times, and whilst I knew it weren't a REAL 140, I still said it was in the pub

 

Sort of.... the turbos longevity is debatable but if the engine is good then 30psi will be fine.

The prob is the std cooler- thats no good, anything more than about 13psi and it will retard the ignition all the time and go slow.

At 11 psi its pretty much at its limit to run without retarding the ignition which on the RST is down to ACTs. I think its somet like 62'c it retards but dont quote me.

A good set up car with 11psi on std cooler will see 155-165 bhp also this is plenty to pull to 125mph very quickly and will pull off the clock in a short space of time which is an indicated 140 as people know and also it will do this at approx 5700 rpm.

I had 2 years of an RST like this and had it set up more or less everytime I was at Karls LOL.

i dont know the ins and the outs of what can be done on a standard cooler and turbo, i thought 19psi seemed far to much

and 150bhp would'nt be enough to pust it to 140mph and more

he doubted what people told him, and asked for it to be put on a ford forum, which ive done

no this was just one of the points i enquired about, i didnt see it as logical, and IMO 150bhp would not be enough to get near that quoted figure when the owner posts

 

My first S1 had exhaust, filter, actuator and ran at 10psi - I had that showing 140mph on the clock... Now I am not saying it was DOING 140mph, but neither is this lad - we are talking about speedo indicated speed....
