XR3i 130ps Gearbox same as 1.8Si box? (Zetec)
A while back I borrowed my Dads Mk5 XR3i 130ps version, told him the box was very 'notchy' into gears - I presumed worn clutch (though no slippage) today he tells me it jumps out of first when tries to pull away and can't select 3rd - (maybe selector/syncro worn) in case of the worst of gearbox replacement are the XR3i Zetec 'boxes the same as any 1800 Zetec (i.e. the later Si's which are 115ps)?

the 130 spec XR3i's Use MTX75 box
same as RS200s, 2ltr mondeos..
The 115bhp Escorts and lower, use IB5 boxes,
and smaller Flywheel. so no, they are not the same

lol still would've been quicker to phone Ford! Ah yes course, thanks Pee Vee, see what the diagnosis is tomorrow as to whether need a new 'box
