Default "5.0, 5.0........To late" Advise guys?

Right last night me and cossi nick a.k.a "nac nac" on here was out in the Xr2 (cossi off road for "inprovments") last night at around 23:50pm.

After doing some shopping in adsa we come off the car park and entered into a roundabout, as it was a bit slippy nick decided to all the way around the roundabout whilst shouting "you operate the handbrake" lol as you can imagine we slided all the way round the roundabout and proceeded to pull off in doing so we spotted the police spectating @ the lights Here we goooo.............................

Cops lights on instantly and pulls directly in frount of us, now usual proceedure follow.

Officer no 1 - "get out of the car please and turn your engine off!"
Officer no 2 - "Come over here lad, right what you think you were doing then?"
Nick - "Pissing about officer"

Copper then PNC's the car and driver and both come back clear. Getting to the point the copper then says "you will be receiving a letter through the post, to appear in court" Nothing else. Gets in his van and away he goes.

If he had bothered to check the car he would have seen there was no tax on the car either(log book arrived this morning).
Copper didt read him his rights, dint take his address off hime and gave him no paper work eg producer or nething. The only details taken was his name, date of birth and car reg.

Now where does this leave nick will he get busted? or is the copper just trying to shit him up abit? i was under the impression that all driving offences had to have "your rights read to you" cop gave no timescale of contact and surely they have to comfirm address with you if there "gonna send a letter"

Advice guys????

Use the handbrake with your own left hand and get a spacker ball on the steering wheel, this should make it much easier to drift out.

well done for trying it with two people tho

I was always under the impression if they didnt read you your rights at the scene then bring you to court technically they never charged you in the first place. The best thing as has been said is never to admiss guilt.

AFAIK you have to have a producer and they'll give you a bit of paper with all your details and why they pulled you over etc. Sounds like he was just in the mood to piss you off.. would have lied personally.

But has the vehicle currently got a valid tax disc?

If not, I think you'll find yourself uninsured.

the tax thing is another myth isn't it?

a car doesn't have to be taxed to be insured as far as I can remember.

I'd like to hear a first person account that anyone has actually been fined for not having insurance due to no tax.

MOT yeah..... as they can say the car isnt considered roadworthy

i THINK your insurance is not valid if you dont have tax or mot. wether thats cos u dint bother getting it. or u coulnt for what ever reason.

u can get tax with the green slip off the log book form i think. so log book in the post aint really a great reason not to have it.
just incase it wouldnt be a bad idea to get the tax sorted out.
but i think he was just trying to scare you.

Exactly, I would look completely plain faced whilst saying it as well with that hint of relief that you havent stacked your car because of the 'diesel' that must have been on the island.

I had avery similar thing...well i wasnt being quite as silly mine was a genuine mistake...the handbrake DID get stuck Actaully it wasnt even that silly, i turned across a 'no turn' sign.

Copper pulled me over, told me i drive like a prick etc... just took my name, address, gave me a producer then said you havent got away with this, you ARE going to court, expect a summons for dangerous driving asap. I didnt think you could do this without proper rights being read/explnation etc...

Shit it for about 6 months...about 2 years ago now so i wouldnt worry at all imo.

That's what it says in my insurance documents. The only get out is I AM covered to drive to and from a MOT test centre without valid tax or MOT providing the test is pre-booked
