my first cosworth ride height questions
hi all
i have always had jap and this car came up cheap. it needs a little work and im getting on top of it but the ride is so low for se london (to many speed humps) and i have been thinking about fitting standard ride height uprated springs but after a chat with simon at woodford garage he recons i need -25 mm springs ???.
i have 17" wheels on the car but i have been thinking of getting late 4x4 wheels as im a bit old school (and the car) so can anyone give any advise on ride height or post any pics of a standard ride height saph 4x4 and some of -25mm please

thanks in advance

As above mate, i think it looks fine, if you put the 4x4 wheels on it there will be a greater gap between your arches, so if you raise it any more it will look odd, IMO. let us no what you do and drop us a piccy when you`v done it
NUMBER 1 That car looks sweet!!!
NUMBER 2 Minelowered 30mm and it is fine on bumps apart from the small ones that go between your wheels. I have standard 2wd wheels. Hope this helps

Not sure how much they are lowered by, but I would strongly recommend these with Koni shocks:

if you lower more than 25mm on 4x4 cars you will have driveshaft issues. ie you may want to fit xr4x4 front shafts to stop them breaking inner joints. i had a 4x4 lowered 40mm and broke 3 sets of front shafts, raised it up to -25mm and no probs ever again.

Yes i know i did that before it broke them. still broke 3 sets. Have you actually had the car on a four post ramp and seen the ridiculous driveshaft angle even on standard height cars? if not do.
The standard shafts are just not long enough for more than -25mm or they pull out of the inner joints under driving conditions.

If you only care about looks, then drop it as much as you want, but you will have problems with camber being all over the place at the rear, uneven tyre wear, front driveshafts popping as said above, etc...
So, in summary, it will look great but handle like a bag of shite unless you re-adjust the camber.
I have been advised that the best compromise handling wise is to drop the front by 25mm, and leave the rear standard, but it doesn't have the "slammed" look
