Default Saffi 1.8LX -> Saffi 2.9i V6 (slight restore project)

ok so i've mustered up a wee project for myself to carry me on for the next year or so. Basically i've decided to get a sapphire, clean up the shell, add some cossy styling, drop in a 2.9i V6 (keeping it RWD hopefully), changing rear drums to discs etc etc, stripping it out (power/weight ratio and all that)... then hopefully once it's all on the road i want to do a twin turbo conversion on it too.

I'll post updates as and when fit, including pics...

So, i got my sapphire today, 1.8LX reconditioned engine. Bodywork is rather tatty and needs a bit of welding here and there. The bumpers are a mess to say the least but most of the mess is just surface rust.

I stripped the interior out and found most of it to be fine rust wise apart from under both front seats. They definitely need plates welded on there, gaping holes lol- it was expected though.

So that's the story so far.. i'll get some pics up tomorrow and yous can tell me what yous think.

Woop!

Got the engine out today using a 20 year old gantry my dad made lol, worked a treat. Engine bay stripping tomorrow and then it's time to start cleaning the chassis up, getting rid of all the rust etc..

So i've got a 1.8CVH reconditioned engine and gearbox for sale which will hopefully provide me with some funds for a little more extensive repair job.

I know i promissed pictures but i will have them up tomorrow at some point.

So the projects started to get on its way! well chuffed!

I take it the engine mounts are the same then?.. or are the engine mounts from the 1.8LX the same as the 24v cossy engine mounts?

Seen a few granada cossies on Ebay for around Ł400 so far.. so i'm going to wait and get the 24v engine instead, seems like the better thing to do!
