Default FUEL PUMP NOISE??

I bought my s2 erst nearly 3 weeks ago and every time ive driven it its started straight away the second u turn the key, hot or cold, the cars not tappety doesnt smoke on startup on boost/overun, last night id driven it all day (30 miles) got home parked up, i then went back out to the car 15 mins later and it just turned over but didnt fire up, i did the usual checks under the bonnet, i then put my head under the car to see if i could hear the fuel pump prime, i couldnt hear nothing so i assumed the fuel pump/relay might've been at fault, the fuel was just above the red and i was parked on a slight slope so i got a can of petrol put that in then tried again, after 5 seconds it fired up( low fuel was the cause), whats baffled me is i cant hear the fuel pump at all?? is this normal as i assumed u should hear it prime when u turn the ignition on? cheers

you should hear it prime once, unless the relay is faulty, it may not prime once, but it will start priming when your cranking the engine afaik.

you wouldnt her the pump prime if your under the car unless someone is switching the iagngition on and off as it only primes the once.

Mine has a problem when it is low on fuel. I have parked facing down hill and with the car leaning to the left and the pump primes but keeps running and car stalls after a few seconds. I always keep a reasonable amount in it now and no more problems.

pump is at the back of the tank,so even if you leave a gallon in ,when on a slope(nose down), it struggles to feed fuel through,

mine makes a noise all the time when running, its new,and all the rubber mounts are new too, it primes up on ignition, stops, then when the engines running,it buzzez like an electricity pylon,(not dead loud) but enough to hear it if you listen.
