the ECU was fitted at Power Engineering whenever it was chipped, im pretty sure if it was something vital Chris T would have plugged it in, i just wanna know what it is/was....

Hard to see en the pic, but if its a connector comming out of the loom just after the ECU, i think its for the knock sensor, not many cars are using this. Is your car a early spec?

Did check this myself, and as far as I can remember, it was the knock sensor. No worries, my S1 motor don't need it

Its a 1990 but its not the original ECU.

when it was chipped the original ECU had loads of green stuff on it which meant it was hard/impossible to solder the superchip on so they replaced it for a different one (earlier one?).

i also spotted another wire which was not connected to anything which had a similar connector on the end.....

its just where the arrow is pointing just outside of the picture

the car is running perfectly fine bu ti would still like to know what its for...

IIRC theres two connectors, one for low octane adjustment and one for knock threshold adjustment.

What colour are the wires?

That ECU is a 90 spec ECU by the look of it...
