behind my sunroof has bubbled up and gone rusty again after fixing it, is it possible 2 get the whole sunroof plated ova, not 2 hot on bodywork but is this likely 2 come off lookin alright or will it warp etc cheers 4 ur help

 

best speak to a pro bodywork finisher, i know you can tack weld it all the way to try to prevent kinks,but a bit of a big area to fuck up if not rite!
and i dont know if you can just go ahead and fill in the remainders with hot weld after that.

the scrappy and av a word with the owner to experiment on a pre crusher with your mig,just to try.

There was a bloke in my local RSOC who did just that...then fitted a mint roof section.

You can still buy the roof repair plates: think they go from just behind the sunroof to around 1/2 to 2/3 the way back. Might be a better option than plating over the top.

 

get a roof skin from a low spec model which didnt have a sun roof the weld the whole skin in.

 

make it a rag top,big sunroof,then all the theiving scum can have the time of their lives swipeing your ice.

 

cheers 4 the help, ill look in2 the roof repair plates, there was a restorationon here where he chopped the roof off & welded another 1 on. thats a bit 2 brave 4 me tho

 

What did you do to fix it ? The trouble is once they go, they will always go again because they rot from the inside out

 

Best bet mate is to get a totally new roofskin really! That way it will be rust free and you wont have any joins in the roof other than the ones that should be there!

 

I agree, the only way to totally remove the rust is to remove that whole panel.
