Guys,
I have a big Turbo Escort with a failing starter motor. Obviuosly, I need to get this changed before I get stranded anywhere.
Does anyone have the correct part number? Or does anyone know if the starter motor, or the gearbox is threaded?
Thanks in advance.

I'm also having troubles with my starter motor and nobody around here can get the right part.
It was supposed to be reconditioned last year but the fuckers only cleaned it and even put it together wrongly.
How much was it for you guyz to get it reconditioned and where?
Does anyone have the Bosch part number for the starter?

Biggest problem is that I live in Belgium m8 and I can't simply sent them a starter motor.
You don't have the Bosch number of the starter itself by any chance.
£70 to recondition the starter is a very good price considering what I paid and they didn't do diddly squad.

If you can get the starter off the car and sent to the UK. They will turn it around in a day. I can give you there details if need be.
Just made an enquiry with Bosch and they cannot recon the starter for me.
Also phoned with Ford to get a price on a new one --> £260 !!!!
Gonna have a nice chat with the guyz who reconned it last year September.
Diablo, where is that m8? Anywhere near Kent?

Diablo, its the starter motor thats threaded mate.If it wasnt it would fall off coz the bolts go through the bellhousing to the starter.Assuming we are talking escort rst?Ford dont do the original anymore either. You can get (as i did) a diesel van starter for about 100 quid mate.takes a bit of time to get used to the noise but 100 per cent reliable.

The company is called Grove Auto Parts, and the man you need speak to is called Sahir. He really knows his stuff...
What I will say is that on my L reg, big turbo car, the gearbox was threaded rather than the motor.
Best of luck

Just saw this thread again.
I'm gonna try and ring that chap tomorrow and perhaps see that he can sent me all the necessary parts over so that we can recon it ourselves over here.

I just spoke to him, and he said that it is not a job to be done yourself. Apparently, there are two screws on the front mounting which can easily break when taking it apart.
I also heard of a guy with a 500BHP engine that rebuilt his own. At 140mph, it wasn’t producing enough current for the fuel pumps and caused the engine to melt!
Ultimately, the choice is yours.

I wish there were even less then my car would be more in value.
Well, I'm gonna look into one shop over here in Belgium and if they can't fix it, then I'll probably just sent it to him for a rebuilt.
Nopez, not alot of cars over here.

You don't see many on the road here.
We know of many because it's a little "club" so we know about every car around and I can tell you that there aren't many about over here.
