Default Cossie Plenum Spacers

Anyone interested in having some made?

Could run a batch off if theres the interest, what thickness would people want?

Just wondering if theres much interest.....

Cheers

PS. It increases plenum volume, and spaces the inlet trumpets away form the plenum wall, im no expert, but I recall people talking about them before....so if you want one....shout

I thought the plenumn elbow was the most restrictive part, rendering spacers useless.

Tho the trumpets are remarkably close to the plenumn wall.

But the elbows even more shit, which cancells it out, lol

The trumpets are about 15mm off the plenum wall.

I modified a plenum cover to go on my Dad's Sapph when he went onto 750cc injectors with the MD240R and opened up the elbow and more than doubling it's width. I also had baffles fitted into it to stop the air being directly forced into No3 trumpet and partially into No2.

From this experience I would say that modding the elbow is a better course of action than a spacer but the way the elbow is modified needs some carefull thought..

For those of us who aren't as talented an Engineer as Daz, I recomend modding the elbow by throwing the fooker in the bin!

All they do is take up valuable engine space, espeically in an Escort plus you also have to seal the fucker on both side which increases chances of a leak!!

PMSL!!! I am actually an Auto Electrician!!

We looked at a Mr Rainbird plenum but decided it was too much hassle to get to fit with all the mods and the relocation of the pressure reg etc so went for the modded elbow option.

I do believe there will be another Cossie appearing with modded elbow soon!

An interesting point for everyone is that my own car uses a modified 2wd elbow. It is possible to open up this elbow (by welding extra material onto the short side radius to allow for internal porting) to equate the same C/S area as a 60mm ID pipe (i.e. same as my boost hoses) and this has proved adequate for in excess of 600bhp with a correctly designed plenum.

I would have taken a picture of how we did it but as it's on the car I can only show the outside of it! We didn't just cut it out and weld it up with 2 baffles in it but ported as much as possible to make the sharp edges smoother and open up more progressively...bit hard to explain but I can see what I eman in my head.

I asked about this ages ago, as I was under the impression that the management is dependant on the inlet manifold referring to a set volume........
