Default Fitting WATER temperature gauge

Hi guys.

I had an idea for myself, but just questioning if this will work.....

I have a FRST, and just bought a water temperature gauge, it needs to be wired on a sensor. Could i put this wire on the same wire as my water temp on the dials in my dash? (the wire on the temp.sender in the cilinderhead). Or will this efect the signal? (maybe the signal is to low, just a few minivolts, and if i put 2 components on 1 sensor, the signal on my water temperature gauge will be halved.

Or will this just work fine ????

cheers from holland

Unless the new gauge has a very high input resistance (which I doubt) then the output voltage will be affected and neither gauge will display correctly. Best to buy a new sensor and tee it in somewhere.
