Default HEAVY STEERING????

My new rst s2 has very heavy steering evenwhen driving along though town etc, is this normal as im so used to driving power assisted steering cars the last few yrs, or could i have a problem, what sort of tyre pressures should i be running with the standard rims and 195/50/15s? cheers all

tyre pressures should be 28psi in the front and 30psi in the back could be a number of things for heavy steering like tyre pressure, balljoint, wheel bearing, traking.

Check the plastic bearing on the steering column, you'll find it behind the dash, by you pedals.

Its because youre used to power steering and turning into a weakling .The correct tyre pressure as stated by FORD in the owners manual is 26 PSI on all 4 tyres.Best regards Micky

its strange my erst is too light on the steering! you would be convinced it had PAS, you can do a 3-point turn with your palm! some PAS cars you would stuggle to do that with!
wierd, cant tell you why tho

26psi front & back for < 3 people or 28psi for > 3 people or maybe ur steering rack needs to be adjusted....Or as above your just used to power steering....

i thought that but it really is very heavy its only done 1000 miles since the mot so it cant be mot related ie suspension/steering etc, this plastic bearing that rallyesport talks about whats that?, i remember having my '90 xr3i cab and the steering was nowhere near as bad!! and that sat about the same height suspension wise (about -30-40mm lower)
