i got a cd player that is 4x50w so thats 50w per speaker
if i put the fader onto front speakers only, will that give each speaker 100w? as the rears arent being used, or does it just cut the sound from the rears??

me head unit as 2 pre outs for front n rear speakers, got no sub out, but can i run a amp from the rear speaker pre out for a sub instead? or will it sound shite?
my last head unit had a sub out and i could control the bass volume on the sub seperate from the head unit

What I suggest you do is get yourself a 4 channel amp and use two channels to run the front speakers and bridge the other 2 to run a sub. Budget on Ł30 for a cheap amp wiring kit from Halfrauds which will give you power, earth, RCA and remote cables. Only thing you'll need is a pair of RCA splitters (1female to 2male) as the amp will have for inputs and the headunit only has 2 outputs. Depending on the amp you buy you can put a HPF on the fronts and a LPF on the sub without buying any crossover networks
