Default Serious computer help needed..............

Ok turned my pc on this morning and just as everything was loading up the pc made 2 little bleeping sounds, came from the actualy pc not the speakers and then when everything was loaded on the screen and ready to go it was just doing random things on its own like msn messenger was flashing on and off my screen and i clicked my documents folder and it loaded about 10 in one go and then it crashed so i pulled the plug out the wall to turn it off and loaded it agian but the same happened, so i left it 15mins and then everything was fine, as you can see im on the net and on here now.

please dont say ive got a virus or somthing

Ive got norton 2005 and downloaded avg the other day which didnt pick up much, like norton.

Any ideas? i thought the bleeping in the pc on load up might be saying low battery inside the pc or somthing

The bleeps all mean something like a morse code. Reboot it and double check the number and length i.e long or short. Go to google and type it in. You will get a good idea from that alone.

Well i posted this at 6.30am this morning and my pc has been off until now(11.30am) and its just loaded up perfect like usual and no bleeps, so i dont know whats going on then

Maybe ill just take the case off and check everythings in tight, dont fancy doing a system restore and losing my documents etc to find out it was just a lose memory stick

You won't lose any saved documents. It will only remove anything you have downloaded like a new programme or any updates.

If it's a shop bought PC the beep codes may be on a label on the inside of the case. If not then you can search by BIOS make, ie Phoenix etc, on Google or whatever.

But most often it'll be poorly seated/dirty connections, of RAM, video card etc. Best bet open the case, take the RAM and all cards out, blow away dust, reseat them and boot up again.

Oh and from your first post it could even be a keyboard problem, someone spill tea on it and not tell you perhaps?

Have you rebooted more than once if not try rebooting again and see if it repeats itself it may be just a one off

totally agree, my housemate had the same problem, ebuyer is good for cheap kb's if you need one, i agree with the norton comment aswell, get panda or something, cos there is hearsay that norton release viruses that only they know how to kill, making money in the process. plus may sound silly, but when was the last time you deleted your cookies and tempory folders?

do that by going to "start" "control panel" "internet options" then "delete cookies" and "delete files"

Thanks for all your replies folks

I think i may have found the problem though, i open the case just now and went straight to the RAM and i pushed them both and one of them clicked into place, so it wasnt seated properly, hoping that was the problem.

The spilling of things on the keyboard is out of the question because im the only one that uses this pc and i havent spilled anything on it.
