Default Lying on a job application.

will anyone actually check it out?

i was thinking about this last night you see, and thought because of my lame school i didn't do my gcses - it's a long story - now i think i'm fairly right in thinking if a put in a job application for a better job than i am in at the moment it could get put straight in the bin for only having a qualification in what i do as opposed to another candidate who has that plus half a dozen gcses/a levels.

Which brings me nicely onto plainly lying about it will the company check? if they do check who do they actually check with?

Just had one bloke, offered the job, 4 weeks of training. 3 weeks in he's let go because he lied on his application

see i'm only 19 soo they're not 'that' far asway!

but don't want future employers to think i'm some kind of biff before they've met me as i have no gcses to put on a job application.

obviously when they've met me they'll know i am a biff afterall but hey, one step at a time!

How old are you? And how much experiance do you have in the job you are applying for??

There comes a point when employers aren't interested in GCSE's anyway, so take them off your C.V. all together.

After 5 years it all means shit. They normally will ask you for a portfolio, just download what you need and bobs your uncle

i agree with not putting them on at all. therefore not lying!

you must have done something in the last 3/4 years - concentrate on that!

i'm not actually going for a job yet just wondering really for in a few years time. i've been in my current job for the last three years and am currently quite happy, but i don't want to stay there forever but i'm not sure how far i would actually get in the big wide world with very little to write on the "present qualifications" section on the application form.

dont bother with gcse but put your work experience down in detail, even if just a part time job, for example if you were a waiter on a saturday, say you are good with meeting new people, good communication skills, used a till and therefore trusted with money, all that bollox

My GCSE's aren't all that good mate, as they say, put them middle through the CV, get them interested in you before they read your qualifications. Usually they will think you are either good for the job based on personal achievements and work experience..

Army sums it up really:

Qualities outrank qualifications.

If you want a job, tell them all about you, and how you would make their company better.

end of the day, if you can do a job better than someone with a load of qualifications they will choose you.
