Yup, pulsars can do that, proper quick off the mark.

Dannys (fiestacossie on here) brother Ben used to do consistant 12.6s with just a filter, zorst, and 1bar boost.

pulsars are nuts off the line - my own ran less than a bar and managed 12s all day. Best was 12.28 @ 112.

Mods were bleed valve and exhaust and no back seats lol! Was running on dark horse tyres too! Completely tanned an escos up the 1/4 and it was running a harvey 400 engine lol

Steve's right. 8 x 12.8's @ 104-6 mph, on std everything, except 1 bar, zorst and filter.

and since run 3 x 12.3@109mph at 1.2bar.

Stronger than a 4x4 cossie.

a pulser can run std transmission at 600 bhp, as long as its not launched hard.

So in other words if you're gonna buy one you - do the exhaust, filter, 1BAR & then instead of uprating the engine anymore you spend the money on a decent gearbox & driveshafts???? yes??

Have you been smoking crack?

Not launched hard?

You mean never on boost EVER?

Marks on his third gearbox now IIRC and Creedy off here has just bought his third one for his pulsar too

You're having a laugh, everything in the transmission is ok...............exept the gearbox, they're crap

I broke 3 boxes on standard boost, anyone with 600 bhp and a standard box that expects it to last more than a week is not all there

are you being serious

the selector forks seem to be go before anything else granted but the gearset is just too thin as stock.

My tranny was fine all day long but i never rushed the gear changes TBH

To be honest at 1 bar you dont really need an uprated box

400 bhp (as long as its set up correctly) on the standard internals is not unusual now, and the driveshafts never break either

But the thing is now people with a lot of power and uprated boxes are starting to find that instead of the gears breaking the gearbox casing splits when you launch it, its just the next thing along the line

See, crap gearboxes

standard gearing is set up for around 170...............but its pig ulgly looks wont let it get anywhere near that unless running some serious power......

The dakar models were geared for areound 120 IIRC with shorter ratios.

BTW 0-120 they have PLENTY of bang for buck and would leave my stage 3 sierra in the weeds with only "300" brake up to 120.

once rolling say from 40mph the cossie would obvioulsy be quicker.

fancy that, a car designed for rallying being quicker to the ton and a car designed as a toruing car being quicker once rolling

Yeah, theres a few 500-600 bhp pulsers runnin std box, all running very low 11's.

I'm not sayin they are strong, but tryin to say you wont get a true 450bhp cossie, that would not break the gearbox on a full out launch

Thing is, that's all you want aint it. I rarely touch anything past 130mph, even if i've got the power. Only when the mood takes me, but i'd much rather have acceleration than top end.

All i wouldask for though is that it cruises at 100 and doesn't make my ears bleed

i never mentioned anything about a cossie 4x4 box i know they're shite as well and no stronger than a pulsar box (i only meant to quote the bit about the 600 brake on a stock pulsar box)

Ive always been impressed by the times these pulsar's can achieve, but have always been put off by the looks.

If you had say a 300bhp pulsar, fiesta turbo, and escort turbo (for comparisons sake) and they was all rolling at 40mph and then went for it, would there be much in it you think?

I think the pulsar gets such good times on the 1/4 because it is wicked at launching.

Used to do a bit of late night drag racing a few years ago on a bypassed bit of dual carriageway. Everyone would grown when this chap with a pulsar turned up because we new the winner was a for gone conclusion. I think he was running 300 bhp and that thing just used to fly off the line!

that wouldnt be this article where the Datsun cained everything to 60 and a 100 would it

yep 225 standard give or take a couple of brake

I think the wheel base helps them launch quite well and the fact the tranny is not as big as the cossie 4x4 etc.

And the boxes are not the cars best point you cant launch them everywhere every day of the week!
