Default hotel booking in London - advice?

Need to book a hotel in London for 21st Jan.

As close to SW13 9JP (hammersmith or barnes) as possible but somewhere reasonable on price?

anyone any recommendations on where or in fact any sites to go on to book?

cheers

It's not the cheapest and it's a tube ride away, but the Hilton Metropole on the north end of the Edgware Road is pretty nice, and has great views from the restaurant at the top

Guaranteed sex with your missus if you take her there as well

Travelodge.co.uk has a hotel about 2.5 miles away in Battersea and is Ł26 per room per night

is there anything around interesting for me to do in the day times other than avoid muggings etc? i've never been to london before but i've heard the streets are no longer paved with gold

I went to the cabinet war rooms last year at parliament square... if you interested in what went on behind the scenes during the war/churchill, DEFO worth a visit..

As above or the TATE.. science museum natural history museum....

Stand somewhere around mayfair and keep an eye out for the nice motors etc
