just got photo shop and every time i try to resize an image it says cannot complete as layer is locked can anyone help

 

If you are in text add mode I think it auto locks the layer.

Are you deffinatly in resize mode ? Click the lock icon in the layers pallate next to the layer your editing and it should unlock it.

I always use an easier program just for image resizing and then switch to photoshop type programs to do the more clever stuff.

 

this progrm is confusing the tits of me nothing seems to work i have a picture of a standard 1.1 mk3 fiesta and i woud like to copy and paste bits from other pics how would i do this im normally quite good at working out how to do thing but this program has got me baffled

 

Open up all the pics you need in seperate windows.

Select the picture you need to edit the bits from.

Edit it as required. When left with what you need, do the old "select all / copy" function as normal.

Select the picture you need to place it into, and use the paste function.

Use the move tool to move it into place, or the layers palate to send it up or down the layers / adjust the transparency etc etc (as it will paste it into the pic as a new layer)

Use the help sections in the program, they are very good

 

how do i open them in seperate windows i clicked open and opened the seconed pic and now all i can see is the second pic dunno were the first one has gone

 

Minimise the 2nd one and the first will be underneath etc

 

ye yea just sorted that bit tried to use erase tool to get rid of the bits i dont want but nothing is happening

Dont give up.... keep using the help guides in the program.

You will kick yourself once you sort it, as its easy and its a good program

 

That layer is locked, because its the background layer, you can't work on it. you have to duplicate the layer, then remove the original one.
