Default Some question's.

Hello all, i'm new to PassionFord as you will probably notice.

Anyway, i'll kick off my first post by asking some question's.

I seen these term's written in FastFord magazine, the term's are:

torque steer.
wire ringed block.

Would someone care to explain them to me please? I'm still learning a great deal by reading FastFord, but I couldn't find anything about those term's above so i've come here.

Thank's in advance, Gareth.

torque steer generally comes from having high power delivered through the front wheels, generally its worse when you have different length drive shafts, its almost as if the car squirms from side to side under hard acceleration, gives you great forearms

Wire ringing is where a groove is cut into the top face of the block, around the bores. A wire ring is then inserted which bites into the head gasket, giving a better seal if done correctly.

It's not so often done now though, with the advent of multi layer steel headgaskets.

That's a great help guy's, thank's again.

Why do you think FastFord won't learn me anything RANJ?

I'm not doubting you don't learn anything, I just disagree with you and personally I find it helpful. I have been reading it for about 4 month's and I have learned a good deal from it.

i think fast ford is pretty helpful when it comes down t explaining stuff. i'd also like to know what exactly is involved in wire ringing a block. i know it has something to do with making it stronger, but how is this achieved?

I've told you above , it doesn't make the block stronger, it helps to make a better seal between the head gasket & block.

That's fair enough RANJ, suppose you're right in a way, otherwise I would not have come on here asking these type's of question's.

I had an idea of what torque steer was, but wire ringing just plain baffled me.

LOL, one thing i've learned from being on forum's is to read every reply in a post, made a fool out of myself plenty of times from not doing so!

if youve read it since it first come out, you will have probably noticed how its changed from a proper tuning mag ie flowed heads etc and cams to ice installs and bodykits, i used to have it in the early nineties and found a few in the loft about a year back and bought a new mag off the shelf-i thought what a pile of shite!
