Im running Limewire 4.9.41

Is there a way of making my computer running better with out having to uninstall Limewire?

right when you install limewire it loads up when you start up your pc by default

so what you got to do is go into limewire click on tools > options go down to system startup and uncheck the box where it says run on system start up

reboot your pc now limewire will only run when you start it so wont run in the background and slow things down

Right lets try to lose a few myths of limewire,

1) The ONLY difference between likewire pro and limewire free is the amount of people you can connect to at once whilst downloading the same file, with the free version of limewire you can only connect to 8 people, the pro version connects to 10 people unless you can get a hacked version that is

2) There is absolutly, none what so ever, spyware in lime wire,if there is then you need to get it from a reputable site in the firstplace, like limewires home page and not somewhere else like download.com
3rd parties have been known to take the code apart and add their own spyware although original lime wire carries NONE.

hope this helps.

Ive never had any issues with it slowing my net connection down and i havent got the fastest connection by far, just close it down completly when not using it anyway, not just clicking the x at the top right, when you do that all it does is goes into your task bar so you need to find the icon right click it and select exit

Bearshare is riddled with spyware and adware - install this if you want to run any p2p filesharing stuff:

http://www.microsoft.com/antispyware

... which warned me about Bearshare - MS Antispyware doesn't even blink when Limewire is running.

Limewire slows PCs down because (I think) it's based on Java, or at least it was - not much you can do about that, but your PC will probably run slower when you're downloading a LOT of different files simply due to the large amount of files the program will have open.

Any other good P2P programs out there? I can't find half the Fabric compilations I'm looking for!!

If you use p2p software, you might also want to run something like Peerguardian as well

i used to always use limewire, but the pc started playing up and when i got my techy mate to format it found about 900 viruses and loads of trojans/worms etc, all of which had come from limewire, it had downloaded a file which was hidden and full of uploads, movies etc and it totally screwed my pc up

any p2p program is bad news afaik, only use bit torrentlite now
