Default Cat 1 Alarm

Been offered an excellent quote of £300 from jan onwards for my saph 4x4 insurance. classic policy

They do however require it to have cat 1 security system cause ive only got cat 2 at the moment.

Local checkpoint quoting me £300 for their cheapest system. this seem reasonable? is there any cheaper way?

For a Toad ai606 £300 is a pretty good price.

there area couplke of cat 2:1 upgrades out there, i had one on my saph, basically uses your existing cat 2 imobilser and adds an alarm to cat 1 standards that does the central locking etc, but u still have to mobilse the car via your existing method, i got mine from halfords, a laser line 933 IIRC...? this was a about 5 years ago...
