Default Just out of interest guys.....

Just looking around at stuff and wondered.......

Looking at cars around the 5k mark, which would you pick from:

High mileage (100-115k) circa 94 M3,
High mileage (100-115k) circa 90 M5,
Sapphire Cosworth, probably around 80k at this money? 4x4 and 2wd.

This is just purely a curiosity thing, with maybe a tiny bit of an eye on the future....

Aye that's a very valid point. No reason such a car should have any probs if it's been well looked after. Very nice cars but maybe I should have included newer options for the same money like S14a's etc?

IMO tho, it's better buying a car like the Saff or the Beamer as it would hold its value much better and you'd get a much better sale price on one of them down the line.... unless I'm talking absolute codswallop?

The Saff would hold value better than the BMWs I reckon...

I think the E36 M3 (like the saph) has done most of its depreciating now and will hold value fairly well, but the saph is probably king in that respect, especially when you think of the money you can get back if you break it later on.

E36 M3's are very good cars but they can be hard to sell, took me a while to sell mine & wasn't that much interest in it but the 1st person bought it.

Depends on what u want I think, if its as fast as you can go for 5 grand then the saff will destroy an M3, on the other hand I went from a saff to an M3 and they are just better cars in every other way mate

Depends if he doesnt mind shelling out for maintenence on a saff doesnt it, it doesnt feel right getting in the M3 and not having to check gauges and watching out for smoke out the exhaust.
One thing though the saff is much more fun than the M3

Standard saph wont get anywhere near an E36 M3

So depends on level of tune.

I found my M3 quite boring compared to my Stage3 Cossie but the M3 was the better car by far. The M3 never went wrong in 2 yrs, just main dealer servicing I wouldn't hesitate to buy another E36 M3,the early ones are such a lot of car for about 5-6k & mine still felt tight at 120k miles, the build quality of an M3 is a million times better than a Sierra Cosworth. Trouble is a stage 3 cossie is more fun to drive
