GingeRS,

I think it's a case of you get what you pay for with these. £50 to £100 seems to be the going rate.

No subscription to pay for GPS, it's all free. The only subscription you may need to pay is for map updates for the software you decide to use with it.

I'm currently looking for one myself, I'm looking at the moment and I will let you know if I can come up with anything!

Hopefully it will be listed that it'll work with my 6630!

But do you think that either of the ones listed in my other post will be any good?

Obv has rechargable battery and lasts much longer with that (or so is claimed.)

Cheers

smid, they both look like cheap shit ones i'm afraid. you might get lucky you might not. i'm just speaking from my bad experience. buy cheap, buy twice.

i ended up buying one of these after reading reviews etc. and i can't rate it enough. it's never let me down. i paid £99 from ebay

smidsy, the two in your link, is what my mate has , cost him about £90 a year ago, no real problems, was SiRF II chipset, nothing wrong with that,

But the newer SiRF III like jims is meant to be so much better at recieving signals

mine was a £45 cheepy SiRF II which works well, but im going to renew my whole set up, and will be getting the latest SiRF III reciever

So this one: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/32-CHANNEL-BLU...QQcmdZViewItem

And it comes with:

Contents:

GPS Bluetooth receiver

USB car charger

USB charger cable

UK mains charger

Li-ion battery

Would work fine with my Nokia 6630 and work fine with tomtom mobile 5?

If so, I think I'll buy this one

The one to go for guys is a Holux GPSlim 236.

I bought one of these from ebay and its MINT!

charges using mini-usb, locks on to satellites within SECONDS, and is bluetooth.

i think there is a shop on ebay that sells them for 82 delivered.

As jim says, DONT BUY A CHEAP ONE. Ive heard some people having to wait 20 mins for a lock-on PMSL

Hi guys, Sorry Ginge if you feel I hijacked your thread at all!

I got it for £75 delivered off eBay

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN%3AIT&rd=1

So cheers guys, I'll let you all know how I get on with it, should be here by thursday(/friday at very latest!!)

Wasn't ripped off with postage really either.

Could have got it for around £65 but that was not a UK seller, and I ideally wanted it before Xmas, or there was no point in me buying one until new year really!

I got one of these - paid <£50 and it's cool.. quick first time fix, works indoors, reputably "better" chipset than siRFIII but in practice not much to choose.

no worries, buddy, you can hardly hi-jack a discussion thread

good info on here and will use it when it comes to buying the receiver. plus will do one of those usb's for the car, clever

for the minute a mate is giving me his old pda and receiver etc, but cant use it as my pc is busted, and wont be fixed untill i upgrade it in the new year
