Remember we were talking about Q plate cars earlier?.....
I have no idea how to get the links on autotrader as when I copy shortcut it gives me javascript.
Sure anyone who uses the trader will be able to find it. Actually looks a nice car other than the dodgy trim on the seats

How can the DVLA allow a cut and shut onto the roads?! Pete, how did you find this out? Do you just know the car?
TBH I was always under the impresion once the police had finished with it and the DVLA inspect it, they issue a new VIN and it is stamped on the shell at the same time... otherwise you could just put it on ANY shell you wanted
Though he is saying it hasnt been stamped yet, he hasnt got the VIN yet BUT the DVLA have issued it
... He also goes on to say how easy and straightforward it is to register it!!!!... Surely with a vin V5 and plates it would shift a whole lot easier..

Its not againt the law to build a cut and shut, unless its using a stolen car(s)

A proper cut and shut is as good as an original shell, as a shell is basically a kit of panels welded together - its widely done in other countries ( insurance companies in Australia even specify it for older cars) but it has a stigma in the UK
Its exactly how they make limos from normal cars both here and in the states
Saying that how good a job has this one had - hard to prove without build pics

im not being funny but why is it when some one addvertize a shell with no id most people on here hits the roof has none of you ever heard of a brand new body shell or a motorsport shell they dont come with id i bought 2 from fords 4 years ago £4500 a shell.this is no dig at any one
Looks a good buy but if you had the ability then why wouldn't you register it and sort the bits out then get more for it?
It may be that it isn't a nice in the flesh as we imagine and may be better as a breaker than as a road car, a shame but if it hasn't been put together well then it may be more costly than buying a straight one to put it right!

Pete is right. It's not illegal to do a cut and shut. However, two things spring to mind:
1. Where is the original stamped in chassis number. One half of the car must still have it?
2. Not sure that the car would behave as ford intended in an accident as it was never meant to have a big weld from one side to the other.
As for Q plates, yes you can still get them as far as I'm aware. Not all police forces have the same policies on unidentifiable cars. Some have stamp and return policies in which case it will go on a Q prefix and some operate crushing policies. The Q prefix cars that I have seen all have unique 18 digit VINs issued by DVLA and stamped by one source. For example, here in the NE, you would get the VIN from Eagle Star House in Gosforth and there is one garage which stamps the shell.

Ive seen a car done in a garage ive worked at. A V.B.R.A garage too!!! Not a Dick and Dom motors place....
It not my cup of tea,but if bulkheads/floor pans/flitchs etc etc as spot welded in the original places, whats the problem???Just cause its "cut and shut",not ALL of them are the stereotypical WELD DOWN THE MIDDLE!!!
Pete..
